Finance Manager Asset Management
Job Description
The Finance Manager will serve primarily as the financial and management reporting manager for the Asset Management business and assist in carrying out end-to-end financial (regulatory, management, statutory) reporting, business partnering, budgeting and forecasting, remittance of taxes (VAT, CIT, WHT and others), and other duties as part of their broader financial responsibilities.Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Preparation of regulatory returns, including monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual returns to SEC for the business and all managed funds and portfolios.
Coordinate internal and external audit engagements and preparation of audited financial statements for the business and managed funds.
Effective performance management of the business; daily monitoring and tracking of managed funds and portfolios.
Preparation of management and performance reports, including monthly Exco reports, and quarterly board reports and any ad hoc reports requested by the Asset Management business.
Preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts; oversee budgetary monitoring and control functions.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of the General ledger; preparation of month-end journals; responsible for periodic general ledger substantiation and reconciliation.
Coordinate all internal, regulatory, and statutory tax audits; liaise with external auditors, SEC, and other relevant regulators.
Coordination and preparation of monthly WHT, VAT and other taxes returns and ensuring timely remittance of same.
Ensure appropriate financial controls in all accounting processes and new product development.
Liaise with various internal and external service providers and manage all service level agreements.
Undertake any additional duties as directed by CFO.
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate should have a relevant degree qualification and must be a qualified Chartered Accountant with at least ten (10) years of working experience in the capital markets, preferably with a SEC-licensed Fund/Portfolio Manager.
ACCA or ICAN, university degree in Accounting/Business/Finance.
Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience in an asset management company.
Full-cycle financial reporting knowledge
Ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and process documentation.
Experience using Infoware system application would be an added advantage
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
Good Microsoft Office skills
Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organization skills.
Technical skills
Good appreciation and understanding of preparation of financial statements and finance operations.
A good understanding of regulatory reporting requirements.
Good understanding of IFRS and its applications.
Proficient in the use of computer accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools and spreadsheets.
A good understanding of the asset management industry.
